How To Take Care Of Yourself

Self care is taking care of yourself—both in the present and for future you. Without it, you’ll eventually burn out. Do whatever you need to do to take care of yourself, and never apologize for it.

It’s focusing on the things that make you happy and calm, but also making sure your shit is in order.

It’s drinking water.

It’s wearing sunscreen.

It’s putting on a face mask and taking a bath.

It’s wearing eye shadow or lipstick when you want to, or no makeup at all.

It’s cleaning out the refrigerator.

It’s going on a walk.

It’s stretching out your limbs.

It’s focusing on inhaling and exhaling.

It’s paying bills.

It’s going over your bank statement, your debt, your credit score.

It’s completing a project on time.

It’s taking medication for mental health.

It’s doing what makes you feel good in a healthy, non-destructive way.

It’s crying and letting yourself be vulnerable.

It’s learning how to soothe yourself to manage all the stress that life throws at you.

It’s learning coping mechanisms that don’t involve harming yourself or others.

It means saying no.

It’s not judging others around you, and especially yourself.

How do you care for yourself?

  1. This is great! I’m always trying to remember to focus on myself and think about self-wellness. It can be so hard during a busy week, but it really does need to be a priority for everyone!
